Good Things

I've been feeling quite grumpy because life has been insane lately. I've had no writing time, and not enough sleeping time either.

So this post could easily have been a rant about how, if I didn't get a real day off tomorrow, without a single person demanding I do something for them, there was a very real chance that I would rebel, embrace a feral lifestyle, get a solar powered laptop, and go and live in the sand dunes down south where I could write my porn in peace.

Luckily I don't need to contemplate that move any longer, because nice things have been happening.

1. Booooooooks
Firstly, there were goodies for me inside the Book Shipment of Immense Size, and they have made life almost shiny again.

Stargate: Atlantis: Reliquary by Martha Wells. OMG YAYE. I've been waiting for this for so long. Also a non-fiction book on writing, How to Write a Good Novel by James Frey, which was recommended to me and looks suitably interesting.

2. Star Wars
Secondly, I read this:

The Complex and Terrifying Reality of Star Wars Fandom by Andrey Summers

and it cracked me up. Yes, Star Wars was my first fandom, and everything Summers says is so true!

3. Eureka
Then! As though those things weren't good enough, I have recently been pimped Eureka. Those of you who have been reading here for a while will know that one of my bullet-proof kinks is Urban Cowboy stories, especially if they have some sf thrown into the mix (psychic crime fighters! geeky forensic side-kicks! biiiiiiiig hats! yay!).

It's like the writers of Eureka looked inside my head and then pitched the show JUST FOR ME! So now I have a shiny new fandom. Mmmmmmm. Pimp me fic! Also? I think I might be a het shipper in this fandom, so that's all good. Or slashing the mechanic guy and the new sheriff would work too.
